Our team brings together more than 75 years of combined dermatology and medical experience, led by board-certified dermatologists and supported by certified physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Every patient at kalon Dermatology receives a personalized treatment plan from a provider who listens first.
Dr. Joseph Iwanicki, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Joseph Iwanicki graduated from the Medical Academy of Wroclaw, Poland in 1974. After moving to the United States, he completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, and is an active member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Iwanicki is a compassionate physician beloved by his patients, with 40 years of clinical practice focused on women's health and wellness. As a lover of beauty, he has always had an interest in aesthetic medicine and has completed several advanced trainings and certifications. As medical director of kalon Dermatology, he brings his patient-first approach and love of aesthetic medicine to this practice.

Dr. David Biro, MD, PhD
Board-Certified Dermatologist · Columbia · Oxford
Dr. David Biro received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania, his MD from Columbia University, and his PhD from Oxford University. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where he was awarded the Alpha Omega Alpha award for excellence in teaching. Dr. Biro has been named one of New York's Top Doctors in New York Magazine in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Beyond practicing dermatology and training dermatology residents, he is actively involved in the medical humanities. He teaches a course in medicine and literature at SUNY Downstate and has published articles in numerous medical journals, the New York Times, and Slate. He is the author of two non-fiction books, One Hundred Days and The Language of Pain, and two novels, This Magnificent Dappled Sea (2020) and And the Bridge is Love (2021).

Dr. Michael Gladstein, MD
Board-Certified Dermatologist · Castle Connolly Top Doctor
Dr. Michael Gladstein is a board-certified dermatologist. He completed medical school at NYU and his residency at New York University Medical Center. With nearly three decades of experience, he serves Brooklyn, Queens, and greater NYC, and is recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. Dr. Gladstein is known for being thorough during exams, using modern equipment, and explaining everything to his patients in detail. A well-rounded New Yorker, he plays the saxophone, gardens, and bicycles in his time off.

Danny Bronshtein, NP-C, MSN
Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
Danny Bronshtein is a licensed and board-certified Nurse Practitioner. He earned his Master of Science from the City University of New York and completed his NP program at the College of Staten Island with an emphasis on primary care. He is board-certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and completed post-graduate training through the AANP. Danny treats common skin conditions including acne, discolorations, and rosacea, performs biopsies of skin disorders, and provides dermatological aesthetic services. Outside of kalon, he is a part-time faculty member teaching Biology, and enjoys spending time with his family and participating in all types of sports.

Yulia Panina, NP
Board-Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner
Yulia Panina is a board-certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Hunter College and has been a NYC resident since 2004. She worked in an acute care setting while pursuing her degree, then spent more than two years in plastic surgery mastering aesthetic skills across a wide variety of laser, RF, and ultrasound technologies. Along the way she found that an aesthetic approach alone cannot produce lasting results without proper management of chronic skin conditions. While in her Master's program she received substantial dermatology training through clinical rotations, and now focuses on helping her clients at kalon Dermatology achieve their best possible results.

Rita Tsipen, PA
Board-Certified Physician Assistant · Bilingual EN / RU
Rita Tsipen is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She completed her medical training at Long Island University with a Master's degree. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she has been a Dermatology PA for 7 years and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), licensed in New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Her scope of practice covers both medical and cosmetic dermatology, treating children of all ages and adults. She also specialized in Women's Health at Maimonides Medical Center, allowing her to integrate that experience into how she serves her patients. Rita is bilingual in English and Russian.

Jane Levitt graduated Magna cum Laude from the Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program and is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. She has practiced adult and pediatric dermatology for over a decade. Her diagnostic and treatment experience covers a wide range of dermatologic conditions including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, warts, and hair loss, and she is proficient in the detection of skin cancers. Patients can schedule with Jane at our Staten Island location.

Tatiana Davydova is a Dermatology Physician Assistant at kalon Dermatology. She graduated from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from SUNY Downstate. She believes establishing a warm and trusting relationship with her patients is paramount to effective healthcare, and is proud to offer bilingual assistance in both Russian and English so language is never a barrier to care. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
