Biography
Dr. Mark Iwanicki takes a different path to skin health than most practitioners at a dermatology practice. As a naturopathic doctor and licensed acupuncturist, he approaches skin conditions by asking why they’re happening in the first place. Inflammation, hormonal imbalance, gut dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, and chronic stress all leave their marks on the skin, and Dr. Iwanicki works to address those underlying drivers rather than managing surface symptoms alone.
His educational path reflects this integrative thinking. He began with undergraduate studies at Cornell University, where he focused on applied economics and pre-veterinary sciences, learning to think systematically about living systems and the factors that affect health. He then pursued his doctorate in naturopathic medicine and his licensure in acupuncture at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, widely considered one of the leading institutions for naturopathic and integrative medicine training in North America.
After completing his formal education, Dr. Mark Iwanicki spent three years as a fellow under Dr. Beth McDougall at the Clear Center of Health in California. Dr. McDougall is a respected figure in integrative and functional medicine, and the mentorship gave Dr. Iwanicki direct experience applying advanced integrative protocols to complex, hard-to-treat conditions.
Dr. Mark Iwanicki is licensed to practice in Vermont and works in partnership with the kalon Dermatology clinical team. His naturopathic consultations complement the medical dermatology services offered at the practice, giving patients who want to explore natural, root-cause approaches a qualified practitioner to work with.
