Biography
Dr. David Biro is a board-certified dermatologist with over 30 years of clinical experience in dermatology, academic teaching, and patient advocacy. At SUNY Downstate, he trains future dermatologists while integrating medical humanities into medical education. His dedication to teaching earned him the Alpha Omega Alpha Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Named one of New York Magazine’s “Top Doctors” for three consecutive years, Dr. Biro is also an accomplished author and public speaker. His works include One Hundred Days: My Unexpected Journey from Doctor to Patient, The Language of Pain, and the novels This Magnificent Dappled Sea (2020) and And the Bridge is Love (2021). His writing, published in outlets such as the New York Times and Slate, bridges science, empathy, and the patient experience.
